July 4th Celebration

We had fun celebrating the Fourth of July yesterday with wonderful family and friends.  Our annual party is around 30 years running...anyone have an official count?  Each year is just as good as the last!  (This little guy was a thermometer that let us know the water was 95 degrees!)

Some years we have new faces, and in more recent years miss those who can't be there, but it's always a great day!

David and Cathy, thank you for all the hard work you guys put into planning and hosting such a great day.  It's always so relaxing and enjoyable!

As always, there was LOTS of food!  I love the star "brownie pops" that Lindsay made...so cute!

Lunch was absolutely fantastic, and Cathy had the backyard set up to look very festive!

Buddy did his best to stay cool in the shade of the drink table, while most of the rest of us spent the better part of the afternoon in the pool!

We took a break from the water long enough to rest in the shade and eat some of Lynn's famous homemade ice cream and chocolate sheet cake.  YUM!

After such a huge lunch, I'm not sure how we even made room for dinner, but we did...even those of us that continually argued there was no way we could eat again!  After dinner, we were all pretty tired.

It was nice to sit outside and visit with a quiet, relaxing view of the pretty backyard.

How could July 4th be complete without fireworks?  Michael and I weren't up to dealing with parking and traffic tonight, but we walked to the school down the street, where we had a decent view of the city's fireworks.  Maybe next year, we'll actually make it to a show.
