After dinner, we usually share prayer requests, pray together, and do some kind of study. We finished our last study (Screwtape Letters), and rather than jumping into another one, the group set up a schedule of various service opportunities through the holidays. This is allowing us to fulfill our desire for service, while maintaining a more flexible schedule through the first of the year. Let's face it, who isn't busy this time of year?
Tonight's project was to sign Christmas cards to put in the soldier care packages that the church will send to service men and women deployed overseas. We signed A LOT of cards tonight while we enjoyed Christmas music, Sara's delicious apple cider, and fellowship.
The guys worked in the back TV room while watching the Mavericks' game, and the girls enjoyed girl time by the fire while we worked on our cards. We joked that the guys were probably just holding cards and not making a lot of progress. However, they cranked out a lot of cards! As they funneled into our room, we read excerpts from a few, and we were all impressed with our husbands' kind and encouraging words. Their cards may have been better than any of ours!
With friends, taco soup, Christmas music, apple cider, service, and a fire in the fireplace, how could it not be a good night?
